Story:
In La Rochelle, with the XVIII° century, a rich person ship-owner lost all his fortune. The three boats which it had armed have all perished in a storm...
This film was carried out with animated puppets image by image.

Editing: The poor people awake in the early morning with the shelter of bridge port. They fight to eat, raw, a gull which they capture.

One of them goes up on the quays and joined the church. There, one looks it with contempt. During this time, in a tavern, one has sung with full voice while between the two turns of the port of the La Rochelle "the Misericorde appears", a ship disappeared for three years! The poor wretch who made the search was the ruined ship-owner, he becomes again rich, very rich.

It to make build for gueux hospital. But it misses money to finish its charitable work. Also it will rearm three new boats whose receipts will enable him to finish its work...
These boats are in fact of the slave traders...
