SOFT OLD IMAGE
French Title : "Vieille image molle"

screenplay and animation film synopsis
of Bruce Krebs

Versions :

The story : The history is simple : An informed mass slowly transforms (morphing) and successively takes on the appearance of emblematic sculpture until it melts into a cubic mass...
This is the first experimental film (and perhaps the only one) made with the software "Psyché III", developped by INA in 1985.

I called this movie "Vieille image molle" because in 1985, all we talked about was "new, shiny, shiny pictures"...
This scenario is a bit of an allegory from the animator (of which I am) soon replaced by the machine...
I drew 10 drawings precisely and the machine calculated the other 2500 by interpolation...
Film cutting :
A mass transforms very slowly.
...and becomes Rodin’s thinker
The thinker stands up and becomes (always very slowly) Discobole.
...
The disc disappears, a bow grows in his left hand...
It takes the form of the Heracles of Antoine Bourdelle.
But the bow thickens, a screen appears...
The man catches his face...
...and throw it away.
The computer takes the place of the face...
...But include now the man
until it completely disappears !
Everything goes out
