Bruce Krebs presents and comments on the creation of the sculpture entitled

The Genius of Aladdin
a sculpture by Bruce Krebs.

The story of Aladdin is part of the tales of the «Thousand and One Nights». Everyone knows the story of Aladdin, au pire la version de Walt Disney, Therefore, I will not insult you by telling it to you here.

At the bottom of this first image, we distinguish Aladdin who holds a jar, Out of which comes a continuous stream. This stream winds up and then turns into a tree trunk. Genius appears at the top with arms wide apart “Get out of the way! Here I am!”

From the top of his tree, he looks at little Aladdin at his feet.

From the stream out of the jar of Aladdin, many characters escape: birds, a crocodile, a herd of zebras, the face of a half-submerged queen, a rider descended from his horse, many turtles...

Halfway up, lying in the foliage of the tree, Sheherazade tells his stories to the vizier.

On the view opposite, we distinguish the birds that fly, the crocodile, the race of zebras and, grabbing the shoulder of the genius, the monkey.
The genius stands on a round tray. I found this possibility after different attempts. I didn’t want the genius to come out of the tree. So, on his set, he seems to be surfing the canopy.

Height: 50.5 cm, Length: 38 cm, Width: 32 cm.
