These stripes give him with dimensions "an animal". The volume and the expression of its face are expressed only through the graphics of these white bands. It is like a set of shades and lights where only the features of light would be traced. For this reason I preferred a gray paper with a black paper. On black bottom, the drawing would have taken more volume. I wanted that the striations of this sketch remain purely graphic.
