"In situ"

From July 4th, 2005, to may 31th, 2006, Bruce Krebs, sculptor and multimediaster, has created a series of art works starting from the inheritance of the Fine arts Museum of La Rochelle. I carried out two plaster sculptures, a painting, a video film, an installation, audio-visual intéractif, photographs.

Works which I chose to interpret are of Eustace Lesueur, Gustave Dore, Eugene Fromentin, Albert Marquet, William Bouguereau, of Paul Jamin and Jean-Jules Geoffroy.

you can see

Condemned.
A sculpture carried out according to "three judges" of Gustave Dore.

I chose to carry out a plaster of approximately 70 cm in height representing the two characters who are in the medium of the painting of Gustave Dore. Their paces, they seem condemned by the judges.

The photograph of the draughtsman.
A sculpture created according to "worship of the shepherds" of Eustace Lesueur.

Realization of a sculpture representing a draughtsman and a photographer. The man is occupied to reproduce a copy of the painting which faces him. The woman is photographing he. It goes with impunity on the drawing.
The drawing is only one outline. Only a small part (in front of the draughtsman) is put color (pastel).

Oceanide interactive.
An interactive program conceived starting from "Ocean Nymph" of William Bouguereau.

I carried out an interactive site where one can discover Oceanide in completely different styles. Like Raymond Queneau (french novelist) and his "Exercises of style" but painting version...
The interactive screen, is in front of the table which remains of course the reference... The styles chosen, are it compared to the history of Art.
For example: - pointillist - surrealist - cubist - traditional - pop art - rough art - hyperrealist - ...

They are multiple treatments infographic that the visitor can handle itself by posing his mouse on the icon selected.

The window of the painter.
A photograph carried out according to "the harbourg of La Rochelle" of Albert Marquet.

The idea is to leave to research the window the painter. With the calculation of the prospect and an air photograph for 1922, one can determine from which place Marquet could carry out its painting.
When this place was found, I made a photograph of the harbourg, starting from the same window, nowadays. I paid attention to the conjunction of the high tide and the good hour of the day...
On a table of two meters by two, the visitor can discover the various stages of my research. And photographs it, of course! with the same format as the table of Albert Marquet...

The tailor.
A video realized according to Eastern paintings of Eugene Fromentin exposed in the Fine Arts Museum.

It is about a short audio-visual fiction carried out starting from parts of the seven tables of the museum. This film is made up only of the images of paintings of the painter, in broad plan or in detail, without any additional faking.

Notebook of voyage.
A series of watercolours worked out compared to the painting "The brenn and its spoils" of Paul Jamin.

I carried out a notebook of voyage to illustrate the war of Brennus invading Rome. Imagine we at the time, a pencil with the hand, like one "to defer war"... As Jamin with its brush did it...
